One of the barriers to early childhood education was identified as lack of access to school feeding
program. As we seek to increase the quality of basic education in the rural parts of Kenya, Uganda
and Tanzania, we have been focusing on school feeding programes at the early childhood
development centres. 10 schools have so far benefited from these interventions. The WPF, the
main UN agency tasked with support for school feeding programes and the government has not
been able to ensure all needy schools benefit.
In the long run, the expected results of school feeding program interventions will be;
1. Increased access to quality education
2. Improved nutrition and health status of children especially from vulnerable families
3. Increase in income level community around the beneficiary schools as some of these best
practices will be replicated in the neighboring homes
